Scoring C+ to B+ in KCSE is a Death Trap! Avoid, or Find Out 6 Years Later

 KCSE students have one goal in place- Joining a University. But, there are some mistakes that parents should not let their children do, or else, they will end up in a deep hole of endless penury.

Scoring a C+ and above gives the students an opportunity to join a University, either of their choice, or of the KUCCPS choice. Sometimes, people focus more about joining the University and overlook the why.

Without beating around the bush, joining the university to do just any course is a worse decision than scoring a D+ in KCSE and joining TVET to do a skill-based course. Universities offer tons of courses, in dozens of departments and schools. In every university, there are a bunch of courses, and you may find these are the majority, where students are enrolled to bankroll the institution, and support the education of those doing useful courses.

For starters, if you have not qualified to do a Medical course (meaning you scored a A- and above), don’t pretend to love Biological sciences. Don’t’ do anything Biological, if it is not a Medical course, licensable at the end of the course. Make sure the course you are doing is indexed. Don’t just get enrolled, make the right choice.

For those who loved Business, and they are to pursue a career in Business related courses, for your noting, there are more people with BCOM degrees at home, doing menial jobs, than the number of students at the Universities. If Business Related Courses is what you qualify to do, make sure you do a ton of certification courses. A BCOM degree or a Finance Degree, without CPA-K certification is useless than going to Loliondo for cancer treatment. For the Parents, don’t let your kids make the mistakes.

You want to do a “difficult course” like Actuarial Science or Biotechnology, so that when people hear about your course they see as if you have great brains, well, go ahead, but also make sure you have a great voice. You will need that 5 years later to remind people to subscribe to your YouTube Channel.

If you did Physics, and you don’t qualify to the engineering courses, go for IT and Computer science. Don’t just complete the course, find a niche-and be very good at it. Remember, Coding and programming can be learned through YouTube. You must be exceptional at it to overcome the competition.

You did agriculture? There are 3 choices available for you;

AGED- this is for the people who did not perform so well. Do this course before TSC starts saying AGED students should not get TSC number. Become a teacher-it’s the only option you have.

Animal Health- This is it. Complete the course and get a license. You are good to go.

Vet Medicine- Would you rather be a Human Doctor or an Animal Doctor? The choice is yours.

Bottom line: Make sure the course you will do is indexed with a national body, offers a license or a registration, or you have rich uncles in government positions.
