Blossoming University Under Siege as Insecurity Kill Dreams

The deteriorating state of security for the University of Embu’s students has become a major concern and requires attentive and quick intervention. This comes when the country is facing undeniably divisible occurrences after a heavily contested political era just elapsed.
The environs surrounding the University provides adequate services such as Transport, Housing (Though unbearably expensive), as well as food and entertainment with embraceable restaurants such as Java, The Bliss, and   Mountain Breeze that has provided employment to some of the University Students.

However, the security concerns have been a long paining thorn in the students’ a**s. The county Government of Embu has tried to replenish security through installation of floodlights along the major roads as well as security cameras commonly referred to as CCTVs.
Unfortunately, the cases of thugerly have increasingly hastened. Students are being robed as they walk from school to their quotas outside the University. Interestingly, the cases are rampart along the Embu-Meru highway that is well illuminated with security lights.

Recent case happened yesterday, Tuesday 21st 2017 at Kangaru Market in one of the residential places (Kangaru Estate) mostly habited by the University Students. The 2 victims, who are 3rd years doing ascience courses were attending a CAT and a subsequent class in the school when the shameless thugs manipulated the padlocks and made away with electronics worth KSH. 137,000.
The case was reported at the Kangaru Police Post and the cops had promised to launch investigations which up now, there is absolutely nothing which has done to commence the investigations.

Sadly, the two students have been victims of street robbery as they were robbed along the same Embu-Meru road by a bunch of more than 15 armed cowards.

The school was also notified but they have not issued an official communiqué to address the security plight which has turned out to be a major undoing especially when the exam period is unhesitantly approaching. However, the University Vice Chairperson of the Student Council, Ms. Stella Njiru issued a statement retaliating on her concerns and promised to convey the matter to the relevant authorities.
